MYOPIA HUNT RECEIVES MASTER OF FOXHOUNDS
ASSOCIATION’S 2024 CONSERVATION AWARD

At the Master of Foxhounds Association (MFHA) Annual Meeting in New York City in January 2024, the Myopia Hunt was awarded their 2024 Conservation Award. The MFHA is the governing body of 135 hunts throughout the US and Canada and presents this award annually to recognize and reward ($5,000) the hunts who are making conservation and preservation of open space a priority.

Myopia Hunt members work tirelessly with local conservation groups – Essex Country Trail Association, Essex County Greenbelt and the Trustees of Reservations – as well as local governments to reach these goals helping to protect thousands of acres and to maintain hundreds of miles of trails not only for the hunt's use, but for the public to use.

A few years ago, hunt members worked closely with Essex County Greenbelt to secure 525 acres of Sagamore Hill which the Myopia hounds have hunted since 1901! As the old saying goes, “no hoof, no horse” but the Myopia Hunt takes very seriously the motto, “no land, no hunt” and it is wonderful that their efforts have been recognized on a national level. This is the first time Myopia has won this award.

The Myopia Hunt, established in 1882, welcomes all equine enthusiasts to participate in our sport. We gather just north of Boston, Massachusetts, with meets in Hamilton, Ipswich, Topsfield, Essex, Rowley, Newbury and West Newbury, Massachusetts.

Myopia welcomes all equestrians and equine enthusiasts to participate as Subscribers, Patrons, and Cappers, and to enjoy the sport by following the hunt. We are ever grateful to have such beautiful countryside - a combination of both public and private property whose owners have generously granted us access.

We are always eager for our Spring season to begin in late April /early May. Fall Roading is scheduled to start in September. Be sure to check both our Hunt Calendar, and Events, here on our website, for the most current information about meets, events, and Myopia Hunt news. We are also quite active on Facebook, so we encourage everyone to follow us there, as well.

Our hunt staff, hounds and horses are rarin' to go! We are looking forward once again to the special companionship and indescribable thrill that comes from riding across our countryside, and at the breathtaking sight of a pack of hounds in full cry. We look forward to having you with us!

Sincerely,

Mr. Franz Colloredo-Mansfeld, MFH
Ms. Wendy Wood, Joint MFH
Mr. Olaf Krohg, Joint MFH
